Wars used to be super super popular on aardwolf.  It was a different 
age of much tighter power gaps, true, but there were also skills 
that leveled the playing field:  balor spittle at 33 percent and 
25 percent hp reduction at 400 moves cost to any thief was the 
biggest.  globe of invuln being true invuln for 2 ticks and 
antimagic shell true invuln for 4 ticks to any remort mage.  And 
vorpal luck.

not only are power gaps the size of the grand canyon, there
are effectively zero ways for players to make a dent in it, 
the way players could balor etc. so long ago.

also the number on count might be similar, but actively on 
screen is far lower due to triggers and widespread bband.

I think the only chance here is a new feature, run like once 
per day at peak hours (once per day only) with a whole 
new set of rules and coding to make it fun.  like a 
battle royale, pubg style experience.  something that 
leaves thesevlegacy power gaps mostly behind.

remember that one time a tennis player cheated and insisted she 
would never chear because she was a momma and then her coach 
said they cheated like every player in every game, meaning 
this player lets call her serena the unserene also cheated in 
every game so she knew to look for her coach signals, and 
how nobody would call bullshit on her even though i smelled 
it from a borough away because she is a woman who claimed 
she was treated differently even though every man who 
verbally abused umpires got the same conduct violation

I feel kind of depressed skipping lots of ideas notes, so I am 
definitely making an assumption the Architect feels

15 minutes vs 30 minutes is going to feel like a totally 
different, and much better, aardwolf for new players.  this 
wouodnt have made sense l9ng ago when aardwolf power base was 
more equal, but now that it is top heavy makes total sense.

very small fraction of players are newbie or notier and not 

we all benefit from ways to drive higher.

3 percent of players online are newbie, and who knows how many 
are alts.  Here is my idea to increase conversion:

Create a random reward system keyed to tier that awards 
meaningful but random quest points either on random mob kills,
at level up, or both.

The probability goes down a lot as players tier.

the game is so top heavy now with instinct and mastery sinks 
that it is time to help players climb the qp curve faster.
in this day and age nobody wants to wait 30 minutes for a 
quest.  its archaic.  faster qp accumulation early in 
player life will not hurt this game.

Alternately, cut quest wait time in half for new players and 
reduce qp by only 33 percent, with q times lengthening again 
as they tier.

Put a stake through the heart of DB abuse bogeyman by removing 
double xp from DB.  
Then create a token that loads on xp mobs, just like TP 
tokens.  Randomly, must play to get it.

Then add a skill to mentalist that will list 10 areas, 1 of which 
will have a mob randomly load with the token.  mentalist 
onky knows what area it might be in.

Thats not how games work.  It is not a gift, it is part of the 
proposition of the game to its players.  as players get bored 
or find other entertainkent (assaulted with options here),
the game will adapt its value proposition to its players or 
it will die.

DBs are fun and cool and brilliant.  The idea is a good one 
to improve them.

Nobody suggested a treasure chest of portals and instinct.
Just tripling the double mobs if player completed all mobs
(or whole blessing) 5x straight would be cool.  and 
not abuseable for the stick in the muds who worry such.

totally agree here.  some players like tymme are scared of the
mere shadow of potential abuse.  nobody is abusing dbs unless 
they are multiplaying.  and 5 alts or 20 the benefit is the same 
to a ptotential abuser so the idea shouldnt be denied on 
that front.

Plus one to the concept of killing all the mobs in 10 
blessings in a row giving a super blessing with 3x.

let players purchase, via donation, pardons for banned players.

one time only, then unpardonable.

note everyone still plays at the leisure and whim of lasher so if 
a pardoned player got unbanned they could easioy get banned again 
thisvtime unpardonable.

btw, aard once had a big pardon at v2 transition.  not 
unprecedented, but yhis time lasher can make some $$$$

probably incentivizes better behavior overall.

Maybe clans want active players with some small level of 
reputation.  I have no idea!

Maybe tiers can take one reputation away per year and can give 
away 4 per year.

Allow players, once per month, to give a reputation point to 
another player.

Only tiers may award reputation.

Reputation is visible on whois and finger.

Reputation giver may be anonymous to receiver.

If monthly is too frequent, try every 100 days.  Potentially 
bankable to a max of 3.

'ist, against rules, etc.  if they care enough.

what is not seen is private interactions with imm in says, tells,
and boards.  I would bet your friend exacerbated the problem 
in her comms with the staff or Lasher.  These are not made public 
so you just have to trust the right decision was made.

And sure, the Power makes mistakes sometimes, but if a player 
falls in the forest of the player population and makes no 
noise, does anyone notice or care?

first thing is what kind of game.  if you want to play 
fps, with somd level of graphics richness, forget 4k.  no hardware 
exists to power top shooters at constant 144 fps at 4k.  2k is 
a stretch.  stick with 1080 res, run a 144 hz or gsync monitor, 
top pc specs and get 144 frames constantly.  its a huge edge 
in games like PUBG.

for other games, fps and 1 ms monitors isnt going to matter much.
game away at Lol or Dota at 60 fps in 4k.

I can imagine 1000 ways that a roster of blessing alts can be abused,
especially if everyone on a flist or clan does it.  ( i double 
xp token, keep alt online to toe MP rules, then you quid pro quo,

abuse concerns are always valid, i just think its a cost benefit 

i have a theory that new and sporadic players, who will not 
have idle triggers to synthetically create an offline qtimer,
are more likely to invest time here if they can spend more 
of it doing fun things which advance the character.  for 
these players, that is largely questing.

they use triggers to run them.  so whats the point?

it kind of makes no sense for new players to like questing only 
to realize they should set up idle triggers.  heck that key 
advice isnt even in newbie guides.  so why annoy new players with 
online q timers.... it seems asymmetric and detrimental.

unless there is some kind of massive alt farming abuse i am 
missing.  but i dont think so.  valid in aards medieval age 
20 years ago, but not I think in todays aard.

Someone proposed on ideas the notion of running qtimers while 
offline.  At first it seemed silly, but then it got me thinking.
Some people really like questing, right?  you get the random mob 
random experience, variable reward... all good elements to a 
pleasurable game loop.  in fact questing has been core to aard for 

So player suggests more of this with offline timers.  obviously 
there is demand.  is there a design problem with zatisfying it?

I played actively many years ago.  Questing was a limiter of 
sorts on how quickly one can advance.  since then, all game 
resources are MUCH easier to obtain, even qp.  heck, campaign 
with winklebot plugin and one can pile up qp on a single char 
for almost 100 percent of playtime.

Exp, trains, I/M/  P are all resource sinks.  Is qp still so
important that offline timers isca terrible idea?  say 
someone created 100 alta to nonstop quest, is there realistically 
material abuse possible?  is it worse or different than, say,
farming 100 daily blessings?

I rarely feel bad at taking advantage of the market because it is

lots of risky things have no prospectus.  nothing can save 
people from themselves except for themselves.

BTW, you might be surprised who has played a mud, at least
in passing.  I look at Facebook and think zuck might have 
passed through a mud at some point because it was so 
similar... friend list, photo gallery of players, whois 
fields for about me, finger fields etc.

is it that shocking that one of the top hedge fund 
managers in America over the past 7 years (32 net annualized)
passed through?

It was not risk free, because there was some chance the nav was 
wrong, or pre hedged like SVXY, but yes it was stellar.

BTW ibkr required 500 percent risk capital and ran out of 
borrow around 630 p.m. 

academics are smart because it's a phenomenal quality of life 
but they know Jack compared to someone like me.  there is 
simply no substitute for seeing 500 situations across 
cycles where little details aren't assumed away if they 
are even recognized at all.

I have example after example of stuff like XIV.  will 
probably compile them into a book and self publish to a niche
professional audience.

8t might sound cool to have 50 million at age 35, but I will
probably not make it to 60 years old due to stress and 
sed3ntary occupation.

participants could not believe that something that closed at 
$99 at the 4 p.m. equity market close could be worth $4 when

millions and millions of XIV traded at 50,40,30,20,15 after 
hours.  the thing was worth 4.  It was a wild example of 
market inefficiency.  I sold short tons of it and covered 
the next day at 5.

All those economics and buffoon professors preaching market 
efficiency instead of the reality of human beings.

Again proving that those that can, do.  and those that can't, teach.

we have HP, mana, moves.  This concept adds one more thing for 
PvP fights:  Determination.

While in PvP, A player builds determination each round.  This 
rate is influenced by many possible things, such as 
relative level difference, tier difference, trained stat 

Determination is a resource to perform PvP only skills,
where the limit is imagination.  These skills are 
probably available to all classes, perhaps all available 
at level 1.

When pk has essentially no death penalty, it might be 
fun to crazy with the concept.

or if nobody really cares about pk except for a few 
folks, it can be a dead end.

It's all a trade off of time and convenience.

If you don't have bags, the subway to airtrain will cost 8 bucks
and is easy no matter the time of day.  Shuttle is more 
expensive and can even take longer depending on time of day.

Uber is cheaper and nicer than yellow taxi.  great if a 
lot of bags.
if ultra penny pinching you can probably do it for 3 bucks
on a subway to mta bus that stops there.  not worth vs.

Let the player decide for themselves.  You think you know 
better about what is good for them, but you don't.  already 
heard from one player saying he would stop at x -1 to 
avoid being kicked out of opk.

Repeating my suggestion to put it in the PLAYERS hands to
opt out of opk and waive the cool down after x deaths in 
y period.  If concerned about abuse, force a week
break on someone that opts out this way.

This seems a lot less about an actual problem and 
more about the general philosophy of the community.
