I would be in favor of a staff nerf, even though I use staves myself.

My problem is that the fastest pupping for a number of different class/
subclass combinations involve finding large rooms and using staves. Priest
(obviously), but also warriors and paladins, and (oddly) navigators.

I'm a navigator who has an unusually high amount of mastery, which I've
split between light and mental. With timeshifting, I'm brandishing more
frequently than other classes, so I'm often doing 20k or more damage per
round in Icefall, which is a lot more than I do with the desolation spell.

I would prefer more differences in preferred pupping areas and styles
between classes. I feel that the starburst staves create more of a
convergence (everyone using their action to do the same thing). I also
feel that it discourages grouping (the leader does a bunch more damage
than those following). And flavor-wise I prefer spellcasting over
brandishing.

I'd be in favor of improving rangers and (to a lesser extent) thieves,
too. But I still don't love staves.

While I love the classchange cooldown change, classchange was never the issue
(for me at least) when considering trying out a new class. Mastery and
instinct and weapon damtype changes were always much more expensive.

I like to be able to try things out and to do so without losing what I gained
over the last week or so. It might not sound like a lot, but it is
very significant to me, especially if I'm not sure if I'm going to like the
new pclass.

I suggest:
1. Every classchange and tier/redo comes with a free mastery rebuild,
though only if you don't already have one. You can't accumulate free
rebuilds in this way.

2. Pclass instinct skills/spells can be rebuilt for free when you are a
different pclass. Rebuilding desolation into Spear of Odin or whatever
gets expensive, too.

Weapon damtypes are a little trickier. The idea of setting a weap to follow
mastery isn't bad. For me, a new pclass means 13 weaps (26 TPs), which
really does add up, and I only have one 0-weighted weap every 20-30 levels.

I've thought for a long time that it would be beneficial to the mud to
allow the long time players to be able to try new things more cheaply.

I have the following live regular chaos portals for sale:

Andarin - 2423 - A damp tundra
Terramire - 4507 - A Dark and Foreboding Corridor
Kiksaadi Cove - 49998 - Overboard
Into the Long Night - 26595 - The Library

These portals aren't too bad, and I'd probably keep them if I didn't
have other chaos portals that landed nearby.

4 TPs each, includes reowning fee. Remember, regular chaos portals
can't be used during global quests.

I'm pretty much continually buying chaos portals of most types. I buy at:

Blank chaos portal: 16m
Blank chaos portal w/silvery tint: 16.5m
Blank shiny platinum: 225m
Live junk chaos portal: 2.5m
Live useful chaos portal: Generally, 2 TP (or 10m) that are marginally
useful for me, can be much more if they are golden and/or lead to very
useful locations. In addition, I pay the 2 TP reown fee for these.

Send me a tell or note if you're looking to sell. You'll almost certainly
make more profit selling blank regular and silveries to me rather than
putting them on the market.

IF2 gear redux
Note #37824
posted on Ideas
Friday, July 14, 2017 @ 21:22
Obviously, notes have been written before on this subject. But those of us
under 75/130 IF2 runs have no chance of getting there at this point. I'd be
fine with some of the other ideas that have been thrown into the mix: eliminate
tracker Repop has just occured in: cabal
run requirements for all gear, or to simplify IF2 (though I'm not sure if that
would get people to run it again).

So, this idea is to keep the run requirements, but to allow IF1 runs above 130
to count towards IF2 totals. So 150 IF1 runs would count as 20 IF2 runs for
the purpose of determining purchasing eligibility. Someone with 260 IF1 runs
would be able to purchase Rank 5 IF2 gear. Or someone with 150 IF1 runs and
110 IF2 runs would be able to do the same.

It might not be perfect, but it would at least allow people to have a path
towards being able to buy their own equipment rather than paying a billion
gold to those who ran IF2 in its heyday.

I'm looking to buy chaos portals that might have more use to me than to
you. The can be regular or golden, or high-value or low-value. If you
are holding on to some that you'd part with for the right price, let me
know.

I can make offers in gold, TPs, and blank chaos portals for ones that I
find useful. Send me the area and room id the portal lands in, and I'll
tell you if I'd be willing to offer. Or if you have a price in mind, let
me know that as well.

Some areas of interest include Muddy Shelter in Crynn, fireswamp, the city
part of City of Stone, servant's hallway in Knossos, Cougarian past the
tracker Repop has just occured in: cabal
maze, etc. Plenty of other areas I'd find useful, too.

Really? I think the changes to the redo structure really make redos viable.
At the end of every mort you can pup. You take a bit more damage, but R3 and
onwards is still okay. And opk mode for T9s on a redo is pretty much a
no-brainer, since there aren't too many people stronger than you out there.
So that makes it 10% faster, with cp/quest bonuses along the way, in addition
to putting trains in instinct.

Sure, grinding trains and gold by pupping is still the best way to go, but
the gap is now narrow enough that doing a redo isn't that big a deal any more.

My 2c, anyway.

Do we still need the restriction of being naked and having no spells on

ritual suicide, which is annoying.

It seems like with the new saved stats code that we shouldn't need that.

Once again, I'm agreeing with Pumpkin. Solo blacksmith got a boost when
staff lag was dropped back to one round. That bumped my pup speed 20-25%,
and smith was by far the best solo pupper before. There just isn't another
class that is close. And it discourages grouping, which I don't think is
great for the health of the mud, either.

Yes, the OPK system is purely for higher powered players getting the reward
while suffering almost no negative consequences. A number of lesser SH
have dropped themselves from the victim pool already. Still, rewards are
really good by being in the OPK system, so it is a tough decision. I know
it spurred interest for a bit, but I wouldn't be surprised if this ends

Alignment wishes
Note #36010
posted on Ideas
Wednesday, September 21, 2016 @ 18:45
Alignment is (to me) the single most annoying thing going for group pupping.

Right now, there are clan skills to lock alignment and change alignment.
These are great, but the change alignment people have to reset every couple
of rooms, which gets annoying. Align lock is fun until you join a group
of aligned people and have to wait 20 minutes to get your alignment to move
so that you're not receiving 70% xp, or whatever it is. And having the
lock run out in the middle of a big room and suddenly your align changes by
1500 points isn't fun either. And people who don't want to join clans with
these skills are left out entirely.

I would like to see 2 new wishes:
1. Lock alignment with a command to unlock, not a timer.
2. Alignment changing +/-100 or whatever.

Alternatively, it would at least help if the clan align lock skill had a
way to remove it other than suiciding (which is something I've done).

I know this has come up before, but not for a while.

I completely agree with Castiel that costs are too high for changing pclasses.

To me, it would be a lot more fun to experiment with classes if I didn't have
the spectre of losing 4k qp and 50m gold (mastery rebuild), probably 2k trains
and another 10m gold for an instinct rebuild of a primary skill, and at least
20 TPs to have most weapons match my new mastery type.

tracker Repop has just occured in: cabal
These numbers are more for a T9 contemplating a class change redo, but for
chars going up in tiers, the relative cost is still very high.

I would like to see:
1. When obtaining a new primary class, check to see what instinct is
assigned to skills/spells that are primary class specific, and move those
trains to deposited instinct (effectively a partial instinct rebuild).

2. Reduce mastery rebuild costs by 1% (and half the current maximum) when
you get a new tier or start a T9 redo or use a classchange. And have those
reductions be cumulative. So (for example) a T9 smith randomly decides to
change damage types, that would be the current 2%. But if he started a redo,
it would be 1%. If he does a 2nd redo (without having rebuilt mastery in
the meantime), it would be a free mastery rebuild.

Yes, this might be T9-centric, but I think changing classes is a way to
keep things interesting later in the game, and the current system makes
tracker Repop has just occured in: cabal
it too expensive to try things out. Even with my proposal, there are still
significant costs (opportunity cost of doing a redo, or 2k+ qp classchange,
TPs spent on weapon damage types).

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I *like* there being a power gap. Well,
I don't like it when I get attacked by Loktar or Wire. But it still means
there is something to strive for.

If there isn't a power gap, then that implies there is a de facto end point
to the game. And if I reach the end, I'm going to quickly lose interest and
find other ways to spend my time. If the top 200 players or whatever are
functionally identical, I wouldn't find it worthwhile to do any sort of grind.

tracker Repop has just occured in: cabal
Declining trains as suggested would remove any possibility of someone else
pulling another Visionaire and go from start to top 30 pups T9 in a couple
of years, which doesn't seem to me to be a way to reduce a power gap (if that
is even really a problem to begin with).

Not a fan of this as a way to increase member retention.

If blacksmith is to be changed, I think it would be reasonable to decrease
the power in large rooms, but compensate by increasing power in small/medium
rooms.

I was thinking maybe modifying the hammerswing algorithm to take into account
the number of mobs being swung at. Rather than capping at a certain number of
mobs, scale the damage. When fighting maybe 5-7 mobs, damage is similar to
current. When fighting maybe 15 mobs, each gets 75% of current, and 20 mobs
might be 65%. When fighting small number of mobs, I'd actually boost damage
to maybe 125%. Don't get hung up on the numbers, only for illustration.
Lasher and others could figure out more appropriate numbers.

I think the first thing to figure out is whether having a large chunk of the
T9 population abandon SH for a while in order to do some sort of redo would
even be a good thing. It would reduce the number of players available for
epics and raids. It might make SH gqs more worthwhile for lesser gq-ers.
Levelling areas would have more players, less rare exp would be available.
I don't think any of these are showstoppers, but it is worth thinking about.

I agree that a T9 redo is a suboptimal choice for power gaming. I'm fast
at cps, but with the cp cap I might only average 1k-1.2k qp/day more on a
redo than sitting and pupping (where I also earn more gold and trains).
Mostly, you're better off trying to buy qp with pup gold than doing a redo
for qp. The flip side is that for a number of people, pupping is boring
and leveling is more interesting. So enhanced rewards for redos would
probably get more SHs redoing (again, if that's something desired).

As far as redoing earlier tiers, I believe if the reward were sufficient,
it would be a great option for T9 SHs who are getting burnt out on the
pupping/epic grind. I'd spend 6 months redoing all the tiers if there
was a great reward at the end.

And I really do like Visionaire's idea of dual primary/subclasses, which
is why I earlier tried to smoosh the two ideas together. If a T9 starts
a T0 makeover and immediately has access to 2 pclasses (maybe starting
each tier at R2), to me that would be a reward that would make me want
to run the tiers again. A charging blacksmith, or a timeshifted
sorcerer, or an ambushing harmer would add more variety without needing
to add a ton of concepts to the game.

I agree with Jasnah on this. An enchanter will be casting enchants and then
looking at the item to see if the item is worth continuing with - over and
over, which definitely leads to mistakes. On items purchased from a shop,
the first step is normally solidifying to try to get a +6 damroll. Unless
you want to avoid disenchants altogether, you're going to be disenchanting
pieces over and over. Aliases are going to have the confirm option stuck
in there because it'd be way to onerous to use otherwise. The existing
syntax is great if you have a unique item, such as a goal reward, and want
to get the best possible enchants. But it is not nearly as good if you
are enchanting an open or closed clan set.

On the original matter of botting, to me it personally feels as though
having a script to automatically make decisions and keep enchanting
until you get something you want sounds like a bot. Stacking 100
commands feels very bot-like to me, too, since there is no downside
and you can walk away from your computer. But as long as we have clear
guidelines, we can work with whatever.

Also, in regards to possible enchanting changes... I don't think enchanting
deserves xp rewards, unless we go to a system where blacksmiths tempering
or clerics casting heals or crafters creating skins also gives xp.
Enchanting gives its own rewards. I'd also like to see less down time
for enchanter's focus. I'd also like enchanter's focus to reduce enchant
spell casting lag.

I like the concept. I also like the idea of it being a reward for going
all the way back to T0 after hitting T9 (probably with the same cp caps
that T9 redoers have now).

Could add some more interest to the end-game process. It would increase
the power gap, though, but that could be overcome with PK-centric builds.

I'd like a new damage mode like mode 6 (total per round for each damage type)
but with averages.

I had been using mode 3 (Average per round of combat), but was getting too
annoyed at situations like the following:

[1] Your charge does UNSPEAKABLE things to Lesser Chitryn! [735]
[1] Lesser Chitryn is unaffected by your bone-crunching force!

Charge is a weapon damage type for bash, as is bone-crunching force (spasm
spell). The way the damages are consolidated, it looks like bash is working
when it isn't. Pretty sure I saw a message a while back that Lasher knows
about this and it isn't a high priority, but it'd be nice to see the immune
messages even when displaying total/average combat damage so that you don't
waste time whacking on something when one of your weapons isn't working.

Even if this output is changed to eliminate my annoyance, I think I'd still
prefer to use a damage mode 7, average per round for each damage type.

I think I've gotten more failures this mort than normal. I have noticed
that some levels and/or bypass combinations are more prone to failures
(sorry, no supporting evidence for that). I will also note that sitting
at SH for the last few weeks taking 4-5 campaigns per day bypassing 4 areas
I never got a single failure.

I also will note that I tried hundreds of campaigns a few weeks ago with
various levels and bypass areas and percentages on the Test Port, and did
not get results anything like these. A 95% bypass rate on the test port
pretty much means you will never get a bypass failure.

Hope this helps,

A couple that come to mind...

Alias -- Same guy as Lost (J.J. Abrams), starts out as a spy/counter spy show,
and then gets .... weird.

Orphan Black -- A woman sees someone who looks exactly like her step in front
of a train. The lead actress is amazing. Show is 3 short seasons (so far).

The 4400 -- 4,400 people who had gone missing over the last 100 years or so
all reappear at once, not having aged at all.

The Prisoner (2009) -- mini-series with Jim Caviezel where a guy wakes up
in a village and has no idea what this place is or how he got there.

The Killing -- okay, it's a police drama, but it's not a typical one that gets
solved in one episode. The investigation lasts the whole season.

I'd like to have a potential mbuy command. Most other types of purchases
have this option, and it'd very convenient for potential as well.

I'm glad that we're getting a bit of transparency into the code here.

So, it's definitely been answered why when I get one bypass failure I often
get 2 or more... that's when 50 mobs have been bypassed already.

If the bypass checking code iterates over the bypassed areas rather than
iterating over the potential cp mobs, that could explain the discrepancy in
the order of bypassed areas... if once 50 mobs have been hit, the bypass
algorithm exits, we'd see more from the ones later on the list. But that's
just speculation.

The part I don't like about this algorithm is that if you are bypassing
areas whose mobs are more likely to be in campaigns, you are more likely to
hit that 50 bypassed mob maximum than if you are bypassing less frequently
used areas. So that makes your effective bypass percentage depend also on
which areas you've chosen to bypass. This might be the part that makes it
feel like it isn't working quite right.

I just Googled Jonathan Cahn. According to him, god is about ready to smite
the United States for allowing same sex marriage, among other things. So
something bad will happen to the US in the next month unless god decides to
withold divine retribution.

So... was this put in the wrong board? Seems like Jokes would've been more
appropriate.
