Helegear Unified map
Note #27669
posted on General
Saturday, October 6, 2018 @ 16:31
As requested a while ago, I created a new unified Helegear Sea map that
includes all information scattered in other maps.
If anyone finds an error in this or my other maps, please send me a note.
If you think there is a non-trivial area without a good map, I'm willing to
take the challange.

I'm going to take a different approach, and suggest yet another
alternative. You may consider migrating your children to a cloud
service. Selecting the appropriate service may depend on the
budget and enviroment you have. Some common services are called
Kindergarten, Nursery, Au-pair or General Hospital. Using such
services will lavarage the burden of handling chhildren in house.
Instead you outsource them to specialists who are much more
experienced in handling children than you are.

You might also read about database normalization. It wil help
you understanding why things are split the way they are.
there is a sundamental difference between adding/modifing/removing data
and adding/modifing/removing structure of data. While the first type
should be expected and handeled, doing changes of the second type
can break the mapper in many ways.
Don't forget to backup the data, and change stuff only when disconnected
from the game.

It seems that even if you are NoPK there are ways which you can be dragged
into a PK fight unintentionally.
My playing style is stricly NoPK, and it seems that there isn't an option
to avoid the case in which a WANTED player can initiate a fight with you.
I see that as a bug as it isn't documented anywhere. I believe that there
sould be a flag which sould prevent such unwanted fights.
Thank you.

One of the most confusing areas in Aardwolf is The Partoxis.

In additon to the most useful "Gaardian's Guide to Solving The Partroxis
Labyrinth", I have created a new text searchable map that correct some
details in the existing maps and adds some new useful information. The
map is accessible from the aard wiki.

As usual, comments, questions, constructive criticism and destructive
criticism are all welcome. I'm also accepting requests to new maps.

Yes, same font (Lucida Conosle) is used for all clients.

I suspect it to be a GMCP issue, possibly some bug in Tintin triggered
by odd data sent by aard.

UTF8 map bug
Note #15573

Thursday, February 26, 2015 @ 14:12
I recently started to use utf8 maps and noticed some problems with the
map sometimes.
The client in question is With TINTIN++ 2.01.0
This is always reproduced on Palace of Song room Top of the steps rid
47027. It sometimes also manifests itself on other areas and rooms as well.

 ~#~ <*. ~#~ <#. ~#~ <*. ~#~

ASCIIed version of that map replacing Box drawings light horizontal
(U+2500) with - and Medium shade (U+2592) with S
 ~#~ <*. ~#~ <#. ~#~ <*. ~#~

ASCII map (for comparison)
 ~#~ <*. ~#~ <#. ~#~ <*. ~#~
The map in Mush r1802 doesn't experience this problem but when
activating the echo there is still something odd there:
echo while maptype 1
 ---- + ----- + ----- + ----
 ~#~ <*. ~#~ <#. ~#~ <*. ~#~
echo while map 0 shows the map correctly.

telnet directly also show the room correctly when ising maptype 1, so
this point to either Tintin bug or possibly GMCP issue.
I don't know how to further debug this issue but would be glad to assist
anyone asking it.

After you understand what happens it is quite clear. But still,
If you get "The door is already open." as a response to "op d"
You *would* assume that there is a door in that direction and it is open.
So Technically, it is not a bug, but confusing the inexperienced playes
is not good either.
I would still ask that to be fixed (for myself I now have an alias that
always emits open down)

You can see it in many of the room in UnderDark. e.g. "The Cage" "open d" will
respond with "The door is already open." instead of "There is no door down from
here." This is very confusing.
Inconsistency in open command
Note #12916
posted on Bugs
Thursday, February 28, 2013 @ 16:51

It seems that open d will be expanded to open door instead the expected open
down. This is a bit inconsistent with other direction subjects of the open
command. It might be better that the six direction subjects (newsud) should
take precedence over room and inventory objects of this command.
Thank you,
