Titan Sigils have been toggled to always loot from their mobs. So
for those that go around with autoloot off, bonusloot on, you should
now start receiving the sigils.

The following spells have been added to the illegalspells list.

If your clan had staves with one of these spells they have been

to bring in version 2.0 of the epic which will fix some of the issues that I
have witnessed over the past couple of months.

Hello! Easter break is right around the corner, so our Easter upgrades are
also now available!

  Upgrade - A Cute, Fluffy Bunny OR Basket of Easter Eggs
  Manor Cost - 1 trivia point
  Clan Cost - 150 quest points

  This upgrade is available during the Easter month of each year.
  In 2018, it is available beginning March 18th and will be removed a
  week after Easter, April 8th.


Note: Clans or manors may have one holiday upgrade per room, at the
original cost.  No more than one holiday upgrade is allowed per room.
Manors may only have holiday upgrades placed on the porch. Clans may 
not place holiday upgrades in the maze or watchtowers.

These items will be reset into the room, and the reset removed
at the specified date.

All,

The description on the light being sold on showcase auction, #84375, is
just a story. There is no tpspend command that will give you 100 tps.
I have had people asking me if this is real, so I want to ensure everyone is
aware they are not buying the ability to buy 100 tps.

As a side note, these stories on my light collection will be just those.
They are collectable hallowed lights that have no other special functionality.
I've had people asking me about this collection.  Every month or so
I will be creating a new light for the collection, with a different
theme, story and stats.  They are for your fun and hopefully enjoyment. :)

Good day everyone,

Just wanted to bring to your attention four changes that were put
in today. They probably won't affect you in any way but they are
good to be made aware of.
The Traveling Urn from Intrigues of Times Past, the Pirate's 
Chest from the Misty Shores of Yarr, and the Lunch Pail from
Kobold Siege Camp were all flagged melt-drop. This should help 
keep these items from ending up in manor landfills.
In addition, the Locksmith Guild Membership Card in Kobold
Siege Camp has had the nosac flag removed, meaning that
it can be destroyed using the destroy command. See help
destroy for more details.

As always, please let any member of the admin team know
if there are any issues with the subject changes.

There has been a bit of cursing on some of the boards/forums recently.
 
We let some of the notes slip past, but unfortunately some players took
that as permission to curse even more.
 
Policies1 has been updated to make it crystal clear that public notes are
not the place to curse. Any notes found to contain cursing or adult content
will be removed by an imm.
  
We also want to remind you all that notes are not for personal attacks.
If you have to 'attack' the person writing the note, rather than address
the content of the note itself, don't post your note. We ask that you
please keep your notes civil and help make the forums a friendly place
for everyone.
 
If you need to curse to get your point across, perhaps you need to rethink
how to present your idea/case etc...

Aardwolf by displaying a box of Valentine's Day chocolates.

dark and gloomy Spade of Charcoal.

Manor owners can may choose to have one of these upgrades added to their
manor porch (and porch only) for 1 TP. Clans may choose one of the two
upgrades for clan halls, for a low cost of 150 qps.

Please post your note on the upgrades board to the imms and wait for magic
to unfold as your Valentine's Day tribute is created for you.

This will be removed on February 20th, so get in early to avoid disappointment.

You know what? Codex loves boxes too! That's why she came up with the idea
to increase the size of the current boxes so that you can fit a level 200
object in there. She also asked for more boxes to be themed around
special events. BoXern has acquired a new box supplier, so the box sizes
have increased and there will be more boxes themed around real life 
seasons and holidays.

Good day everyone,

The subject says it all, I am looking for players to nominate their fellow
adventurers (or themselves) for the honour of being part of a group of the
most influential Aardwolf players over the past 20 years.

The categories that players can be nominated in are as follows:
- A player who was influential at one point, but has now gone inactive

- A player who is currently considered an influential player of the realm

- A player who was an influential builder to Aardwolf (area category)

How can someone be influential?
- Perhaps they have been very active in the epics, clan, raiding, or
other communities (helper, advisor, etc)

- Perhaps they are just really chatty and are always around and their
opinion has weight and merit

Fine points:

- Former and current IMMs cannot be nominated

- If the player in question currently has a Winds of Fate Fantasy Series
Card, they cannot be nominated
Format:

You can nominate one person per each category and must explain the reason
why (no more than 15 words). So, you should write your submission as 
follows:

1) Fufa - as the first person to be really hardcore
2) Icecool - because he runs a lot of Epics

3) Yowza - because of the Icefall Epic

Acceptable nominations will be judged by yours truly, with submissions that
meet the quality line being given the opportunity to be immortalized with
their own Fantasy Series Card in the Winds of Fate area.
Nominations will be accepted until 8 January 2018.

It looks like we were a bit over-zealous in the number of rooms that were
supposed to be flagged norecall/prison in Fortune. These flags have been
removed from most of the rooms in the quest-able portion of Fortune, aside
from rooms where they had to be left due to goal-related tasks.

With Mordist's help, I was able to fix the major bug that was irking me about
Winds. We completed a successful run this afternoon and I'm happy with the
results. Therefore, winds is back up and open.

There was also an issue with nodding to the essence and hynes. I've fixed that
as well.

Note reporting still does not work. That's on the to do for January.

New Game: Aard New Year Resolutions

Happy Holidays, Aardwolfians!

I will be running a new game, and I am starting the first phase right now.
In order for the game to work properly, I need you to do something for me.
Send me a personal note with an Aardwolf (not real life) new years resolution
you may or may not end up keeping. Note these will be made public, so nothing
personal here.

A good example for me would be "to stop bugging Lasher so much".

On January 1st (or maybe a few days after), I will be doing a trivia game to
see who can guess the most correct resolutions for the player.  For example, in
my resolution above, I could post "to stop bugging __?__ to much", and see
who is able to guess it.

I don't have all the details on how the game will work, but I will likely pick
my favorite resolutions and put them in a mudinfo note.  Whoever is able to
guess the most correct answers will win a prize (undetermined at this time).

Since you are able to access the 'sick' part of Jenny's Tavern once you
have completed the goal, the rooms have been made explorable.  I believe when I
added this section, I thought this required the noexplore flags on the rooms,
but that is not the case.

Just a heads up here if you are an 'explored collector'.  You'll need to
revisit Sick Jenny's Tavern to get 100% for the area.

Ok, I'm on a bit of a roll. The Elder Sage's room is now unlinked from the 
forge area and can be accessed via the Steward. I will leave it to you to 
figure out how.

Multiple people may now enter that room. The forge portion will remain 
single player only due to how the progs work.

Easiest way to deal with this is to go to the Elder Sage and retrieve all
to get your cards and buy a new case

For those not already aware, I've added a new Aarchaeology item to the game.
It is a wild card, and can be turned in to an imm for any Aarchaeology item of
your choice.  I thought this may help some of you complete your collection who
may be having difficulties finding a specific item.

This item does NOT load on mobs like regular Aarchaeology items.  They must be
gotten in other ways, such as imm games, rewards, imm auctions, etc.  Just keep
an eye out for them.  They will be fairly rare, though.  Here is the item for

Manor Keys

I'm writing this note because if you're anything like me you'll just do a
'keyring put all' and later be like, where the heck did my manor key go?!

Well it has been pointed out that manor keys weren't going onto the keyring,
so this morning I went through the manor areas and added the iskey flag to
them so that they now will. Did I miss anyone? Let me know, I love adding
flags to things this will bring me great joy!

Hopefully I will not have to do more weekly changes, but here it is for now:

1) Descriptions for the visually impaired (vi) have been added to the obelisk
sides (ie, look side1vi, side2vi, etc). (Edit) 

2) Tag
   - zone echos should be given for all players and mob tags now
   - you should not be able to tag someone who has not learned the language
   - a mob should not be able to tag someone who has not learned the language

3) Solistar's Room
   - The pedestal will now disappeared after you solve the puzzle
   - if someone activates the pedestal and then leaves, a second person may
   now reactivate the pedestal and continue the run (herein referred to as
   the Modi bug - patent pending). This one was a bit tougher for me to
   code up, so you end up having to do a double activation. I just wrote
   that the player slide off the pedestal. In essence it's purging the
   object because the player who activated it is no longer in the room and
   loading a new one.

4) A couple behind the scenes lua errors were fixed. Should see no difference
in gameplay.

5) To clarify, neutral players have a different task loadout than good/evil 
players. Once you've received the tag mob, tag player, kill innocent tasks
you do not have to go back and try and get the other ethos tasks. 

6) Double nod at essence for Orittias still exists. Have not had a chance
to investigate.

Yowza is working on a scaleable version of Icefall Epic 2 (IF2). In
the meantime, several of the mobs have been adjusted in the first
sections of the epic (hp and damage). Further tweaks may be necessary
in the future, or may differ once Yowza's work is complete.

It will still be a difficult epic, and we will monitor the future runs.

Good day,

This is a summary of the changes for Winds of Fate this week.

1) Oath portal is now back to what it was before, being that the nogive flag
has been removed. If you still drop it, it will melt. However, you can now
give the portal to players who want to 'join late' so to speak.

2) The double nod with the Essence still exists. Will continue to troubleshoot.

3) VI descriptions for the obelisk are still to be completed (Edit).

4) Tag now does a zone echo for whoever is it, be it mob or player. In
addition, if a player has not completed the learn the language task, they
cannot be tagged it (note issues to me if any). This is different from the
start of the week where I had used echos. Room progs were tricky to get
the message across, this will alleviate that.

5) If you are not transferred to Hynes from Orittias at the final boss,
there is a portal that will stay in the room for 2 minutes. Use it while
you can or use the Oath portal (Daresia/Trurien).

6) Behind the scenes, when you entered Orittias' room in stage 2 he would
actually go to stage 3 and set the stage for the task. Now, I have moved
that to an entrance trigger when you meet Solistar. This should have no
effect on the overall gameplay, just that sometimes Orittias would not
be in the right room, which I suspect is because I was transferring him
all over the place to do other things. This should be fixed. Let me know
if you see any hiccups.

7) For neutral players, the goal is differnt and you were given the
task to slaughter the innocent. I have checked this and for some reason
it never got coded. I apologize for the inconvenience. This has now
been added and should progress normally. Please note any issues to me
as per usual.

8) Mob Damage - I am not ready to pull any triggers on any mobs at 
present. Only a weeks worth of data exists on the current level. There
have some suggestions that it be lowered a bit so that smaller runs
can be accomplished, but I saw a couple 3 person runs this week. So
therefore, it seems to be meeting the status quo. However, I will still
gather the necessary data sets.

That's it for now. Please let me know if you experience any issues or
have any concerns.

Winds of Fate - Summary of Changes

Good day,
This is a summary of all changes in Winds of Fate.

1) Completion notes now have the proper prefix formatting (Turie, Zoot, Redryn,
Abelinc)
1a) Next week I will look at creating a compiled daily or weekly note. It's a 
bit above my pay grade I suspect
2) Accept/Deny was rewritten to not automatically transfer a player who has 
made one of those choices. All players have the ability now to get a portal
if they so desire

3) The Essence of the Wind mob was doing what I would call a double nod, 
which is counterproductive when you have to nod at a mob where you get 
transferred (Hynes, for example). This has been fixed.
4) Cooldown objects were rewritten and the code now displays the accurate
cooldown information which can be accessed by trying to go north from the
beginning of the area. You should not be able to go north of the Steward
now if you have a timer (thanks to Robbo for helping me figure this
one out)

5) The drop rate for rewards has been decreased to one card per run. The
original math was that it would take a lot of runs to complete the epic
and so far we have one player at 30% complete in less than a week. So
we've throttled the reward back for a bit and will reassess as time
progresses.
5a) I will put in a deadline of mid-December to review this. Perhaps
an increased chance of rewards if you made an accept/deny choice? For
discussion
6) Run completions will continue to be posted on the Epics board as per
the vote of last week.
7) Collector's cases have switched from nodrop (cursed) to kept (K). 
7a) I made them containers, but you actually can't store anything in
them. I will look at seeing whether I can change them to treasure so 
that they can be bagged. Will check that next week
8) The Guards in part 2 are no longer banishable (Mondaine)
8a) To add to the complexity of the run. I am considering making the
children in part 3 nobanish as well. For discussion.

9) The repop rate for the area was lowered from 6 to 2 hours. I have not
heard of any instances of people not being able to do a run now if they 
desired to. This should alleviate the need to force a repop after a 
run completion.
10) The Learn the Language task had an annoying behind the scenes bug
for imms. I have fixed this.

11) Mob damage was increased. Objective of the area is to have an epic
that can be run by 4 - 10 players (so, a clan could go on a run if they
desired), but not solo runs. I will continue to track and monitor this
portion to ensure that the desire is being met.
12) This morning I edited ten separate mprogs to ensure checks were 
completed to ensure that runs would not get locked up in certain areas.
Please be cognizant of any hiccups with respect to using the portal
or getting stuck in certain stages. Note me any irregularities that
you experience.

To be completed/known issues I am tracking:
13) VI descriptions of the obelisk (Edit)

14) There are a couple of parts that are not getting the effect that
I desired when I wrote it (part 4 and 5 respectively). Will look at 
this over the next two weeks or so to see if it can be developed
further.
15) There is a tag bug that I can see. I just have not been able to 
duplicate it yet. When I created the prog I mimicked the tag social
but it has now become obvious that players cannot actually tell who
is it. I will look at this next week.

From December 1st to 25th, we're going to make Aardwolf appeal more to
your sweet tooth! You'll find *(@x094chocolate)* items to loot
off of random mobs (check out 'help chocolate' for details).

Note that the game has changed a bit since last year, so any leftover
chocolates from 2016 will not work. This year, once you have 10
unique chocolates, you can 'runto bakery' and 'say happy holidays' to
exchange your 10 unique chocolate treats for a prize.

Hi all! I hope you all had a great time with this game, searching for
the items and competiting with your friends for the excellent prizes we are
so close to giving away.  I thought I'd write a note to all of you to let you
know a few things as we get closer to the end of the game, which is 12:00AM
Dec 1st.  If you have any questions, please send me a tell or a personal note.
There will be no more top ten posts (except for the 11/27 update) 
or hunt hint notes.

* All turkeys currently loaded in the game are all there will ever be. I just
  put out a large amount, so it will last through the end of the game. To put
  things in perspective, if someone found ALL the turkeys in the game at this
  point in time, they'd beat all top 3 players.  There is no shortage of items
  to be found at this point - but like I said, the imms will no longer be
  creating any additional turkeys.
* You will need to give all your turkeys, if you wish to receive credit for
  them, to Ravi before the deadline stated above. Note that I may not be online
  at midnight Thursday night, so if you turn in a turkey after the deadline and
  Ravi accepts it, rest assured it will not be counted. At some point on
  Friday, he will simply give the turkeys back to you and they become collector
  items.  I may update the identify text on them to reflect this.
* When will rewards go out? They will likely be given out on Friday.
  If things are crazy busy for me that day, they will be given out over the
  weekend.  You will be notified via note for any rewards you've won; even if
  it is the participation prize.  Once you've received that note, you will
  have already received your reward, with the exception of the first place
  winner.  She/he will need to be in touch with Lasher to work out the details.
  For the rest, the TP or QPs will be added to your pfile, if you are online
  or not.
* The top 3 winners of the game will be annnounced on the Mudinfo board.
  There will be no turkey counts and/or other players mentioned, though we
  will have many, many players receiving 10 QPs.
* I enjoyed running this game, and I am looking for feedback/ways to
  improve the game.  We did this mud-game via votes and decided to remove
  the turkey count from the daily tally updated. If you have suggestions,
  please send me a note via personal board.  I hope to run a game similar to
  this sometime in the future, but it will be a while - well into next year.

I think this covered everything I wanted to talk about a few days
before the game deadline.  Again, I hope you've all enjoyed the game and
best of luck to those fighting to win the top prizes!

vnum you want your decoration in (ie aylor-0). Manor owners
can rstat their main manor rooms for the vnum (will be the
exit to the south) and clan leaders can rstat their clan rooms
for the same information.

     These decorations will stay up until the New Year!

Hi Friends,
 
I am proud to announce a special event we are running for the Thanksgiving
holiday!  The imms will randomly be spreading turkeys (item details located
below) around the mud.  If you run across one of these items, hand it in to
Ravi in Aylor, or auction it for gold if you're not interested in the contest.
We will be keeping a running tally of how many each player has found.  They 
can be found on the ground or on mobs.
 
Although the tally will not be available to players, I will be posting an
occasional update on the mudinfo board for your reference.

I need testers for a mushclient experiment

I'm looking for as many people as possible to help test an experimental build
of MUSHclient. It doesn't have any new features. I'm just trying to get rid
of the stupid local msvcr100.dll by compiling everything differently.
This will also make it easier to keep any external components like LuaJIT
and Lua-openssl and Tolk up to date, because the process will be automated on the
same system that builds the installers.

This kind of change has in the past shown itself to be brittle, so I need 
some reports of works/breaks/crashes/etc. with your OS version, 
OS language, 32 or 64 bit, install location (feel free to mask anything
sensitive or send it privately), and whatever else might seem relevant.

I don't have an installer for this
 so just follow the old zip method.

may have a holiday upgrade placed only on the PORCH.  Clans may not 
place holiday upgrades in the maze or watchtowers.

Public Hall Changes

Greetings,

Romani, Doh and Vanir Public Halls have been reviewed and to ensure uniformity
the following checks were completed:

- Does the public hall have a Healer, Trainer, and Questor? In the event that
one was not present, the mob from the closed hall was moved to the public
hall (in a couple instances, I relinked the trainer room from the closed
hall and basically added it to the public hall)
- Does the public hall provide clan exits to the realm? If no, I relinked
the closed hall clan exits to the Public Hall. You now have a few new options
out there for you.

- Does the Public Hall have a shopkeeper? If no, one was added and five
items were created based on historic names of closed clan eq that were
present at the time of the merger/disbanding. 
Future Intentions:

- Complete the same review of Rogues
- Review closed clan potions/non-eq items and bring 5 of those items
to the public shop
- Complete the same review of Daoine
As always, I am open to questions, queries and suggestions.
